The Wedding(s) of Lia and Patrick

Lia and Patrick may be onto something here — they split their wedding into TWO days — and I am kind of digging this new way to say “I do”. I met Lia and Patrick with their 2 dogs and parents at Washington Memorial Chapel at Valley Forge for a very intimate wedding ceremony. And when I say very, I mean there were only 8 of us in the Chapel all together. The small ceremony and Chapel location was simply perfect for these two who clearly have an appreciation for the historical significance and beautiful architecture that Valley Forge provides.

Oh yeah, and I am so lucky to continuously find couples who love their dogs so much! Because they were so well behaved, they were even permitted in the Chapel for just a few minutes for a family photo. Dogs and weddings may be one of the best combinations I could possibly think of! We took some portraits before Lia and Patrick headed off to a well-deserved week long road trip down south.

The next time I saw Lia and Patrick, they were putting their finishing touches on their wedding reception. Once again, they chose a spectacular location with Historic Stonebrook Farm, a family run space that once operated as a dairy farm. This place was filled with details and charm and was even more special when Lia and Patrick put their own touches on it. Because they had their ceremony several weeks prior, they were able to print photos out and frame them to have on display at their reception, much to the joy of their guests! It was incredible to see a couple print so many photos and even more incredible to see their loved ones loving their photos.

Did I mention that this family is filled with talent? The groom HAND MADE the card box which was a beautifully crafted church. Speaking of hand made, Lily and Aunt Jeanie should be professional bakers if they aren’t already. Their cookies and mini pies seemed to disappear before dinner was served! The beautiful rustic barn was adorned with DIY floral arrangements, photos and of course the many happy guests who came to celebrate this couple after a long ELEVEN years of being together!
